The Florida A&M University Symphonic Band presented a concert for the Convention of the American Bandmasters Association held in Sarasota, Florida at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall. The band has also made appearances at the American Bandmasters Association’s 55th National Convention at Florida State University and the National Black Music Caucus Professional Conference in Atlanta, Georgia.
The Florida A&M University Symphonic Band performed at the Music Educators National In-Service Conference, Miami Beach, Florida. They were invited to present a joint concert with the United States Army Band in Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C. Because of the superior musical distinction that the Florida A&M University Symphonic Band has achieved, they have performed numerous concerts at conventions of the American Bandmasters Association, the Southern Division of MENC, the Southern Division of the College Band Directors National Association, the Music Educators National Conference and the National Conference of the College Band Directors National Association. The most recent of these engagements was a performance at the Florida Music Educators State Conference in Tampa, Florida.

Under the direction of Dr. Shelby Chipman, the Florida A&M University Symphonic Band Wind Ensemble is composed of ninety musicians from six hundred fifty musicians in the University Band Program.
